Match Preview: Johnstone Burgh vs Thorniewood United

All the info ahead of Saturday's WOSFL First Division fixture against Thorniewood United.

The Match:
This Saturday, we welcome North Lanarkshire side Thorniewood United to Johnstone. The match takes place at Keanie Park with kick off at 14:00.

Weather:
At the time of writing, the forecast for the remainder of the week is mostly wet, although we do not expect any issues with the playing surface. We will, however, monitor the pitch and update fans via our website, Facebook, X and WhatsApp should the situation change. But, as always, unless stated otherwise, the game is ON.

Form:
We suffered our first league defeat in seven matches on Saturday against Kilbirnie, and have failed to win in 90 minutes in our last four, although we did win two of those on penalties. Prior to Saturday's defeat, we were unbeaten in six in all competitions. We currently sit 8th in the league. However, along with Shotts Bon Accord who are a point ahead of us, we have up to eight games in hand on the teams above us, so we're well in the race for promotion.

Our Opponents:
Thorniewood United sit 11th with 24 points from 19 matches. Saturday's 3-0 victory over Rutherglen Glencairn was their first home game since 4 November, so they'll be used to playing away from home. Since that game on 4 November, they've won three, drawn two and lost two. That run includes notable victories in the last two weeks, beating Rutherglen Glencairn and Kilwinning Rangers, as well as drawing 2-2 against league leaders Petershill last month.

Previous Meeting:
Johnstone Burgh 2-1 Thorniewood United. We last met on 18 March 2023, when goals from Kieran Brophy and Tam Cruden saw us come from behind to complete a league double over Thorniewood United, having also beaten them 2-1 at Robertson Park earlier in the season.

Getting Here:
By Train: The nearest train station is Johnstone, which is served by trains from Glasgow Central and is approximately 10 minutes walk to Keanie Park.
By Car: We have a car park next to the stadium, as well as plenty of street parking nearby. Post Code is PA5 9PE. If parking on the street, please be mindful of local residents and take care not to obstruct any driveways or access to properties.
