Match Preview: Johnstone Burgh vs St Cadocs

All the info ahead of Saturday's Scottish Junior Cup Quarter Final against St Cadocs.

The Match:
On Saturday, we welcome WOSFL Premier Division side St Cadocs to Keanie Park, with a place in the semi finals up for grabs. The match kicks off at 13:30, not 14:00 as previously advertised. Burgh Bar and facilities will be open from 12:00.

Weather:
At the time of writing, the forecast for the remainder of the week looks mostly dry but cold. Although we don't anticipate any issues, the club will monitor the pitch throughout the week, hoping that the temperatures don't drop too low.

Form:
Burgh's four-game win streak came to an end on Saturday as we were knocked our of the South Challenge Cup, meaning that this tournament is now our only chance of winning a cup competition this season. Prior to Saturday's disappointing defeat, we'd won 10 of our previous 11 in all competitions.

Our Opponents:
St Cadocs were promoted to the Premier Division last season after finishing 2nd in the First Division, just a point behind champions Gartcairn. They've had no trouble adjusting to life in the WOSFL's top tier, flying high and currently sit third. Although they are winless in their last two, drawing 2-2 with Gartcairn on Saturday and losing 2-0 to Darvel the previous week, before this they had won six in a row in all competitions, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Previous Meeting:
The teams last met 11 months ago in the WOSFL First Division, when they drew 1-1 at Keanie Park. Tam Cruden equalised for the Burgh with a stunning chip less than a minute after falling behind.

How We Got To The Quarter Finals:
Our four previous matches in this competition have all been against sixth tier teams, from two different regions. Rounds 1 & 2 saw 3-0 home victories over Dundee East Craigie and Dundee North End. Then in Round 3, we beat West Of Scotland Premier Division Side Irvine Meadow 3-1 at Keanie Park. Round 4 was eventually played on the fourth attempt, after being postponed three times due to the weather. Due to the number of postponements and the need to get this match played, we moved the game to New Western Park in Renfrew where, two weeks ago, we beat Dundee Downfield 4-3 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw.

How They Got To The Quarter Finals:
R1: St Cadocs 2-1 Blantyre Victoria
R2: Petershill 1-5 St Cadocs
R3: Dundee Violet 0-3 St Cadocs
R4: Stonehaven 0-1 St Cadocs

Officials:
Our referee this weekend is Thomas Denholm. He will be assisted by Adam Holley and Kai Newell. Two of the three officials have overseen The Burgh previously this season. Thomas Denholm was the man in the middle for our 2-0 victory over Lowland League side University of Stirling in the South Challenge Cup, whilst Kai Newell ran the line for our 2-1 win against Drumchapel in our first home match of the season. Adam Holley had been scheduled to be linesman for our first attempt to play Dundee Downfield, but the game was postponed due to snow.
