Match Preview: Johnstone Burgh vs Arthurlie (Including Interview With Tommy Montgomery)

All the info ahead of Saturday's Scottish Junior Cup Semi Final Second Leg against Arthurlie.

The Match:
This Saturday, we welcome Arthurlie to Keanie Park. The tie is finely poised at 2-2, meaning that it's a case of winner takes all on Saturday. The match kicks off at the later time of 17:30. If the match is a draw after 90 minutes, we’ll go straight to a penalty shootout.

Tommy Montgomery spoke to www.johnstoneburghfc.com ahead of Saturday's match:

There were a few injuries picked up on Sunday, now that you've had time to assess these, are you able to give us an update?
The injury situation is positive. Everyone has recovered and are available for selection.

It's a 5.30pm kick off on Saturday. Does the unusual kick off time impact the match day preparations?
It is an unusual kick off time, but the boys are all good professionals and we will prepare as normal.

The support we had at Arthurlie on Sunday was superb, coming back to Keanie this weekend, can the supporters be the 12th man and get us into the final?
All the players agree the support at Arthurlie was phenomenal and really made a difference. I'm sure they will turn out in their numbers again and be that 12th man.

Weather:
At the time of writing, we have no concerns regarding the weather this weekend. Although there is some rain forecast on Thursday, the rest of the week is forecast dry.

Form:
After taking one point from five matches, The Burgh are now unbeaten in four, having won two and drawn two. Dale Simeon's goal with 13 minutes to go against his former team on Sunday ensured that our unbeaten run under Tommy Montgomery continued. In the league, we sit 8th and, with games in hand, promotion remains in our own hands.

Our Opponents:
Arthurlie currently occupy the second relegation spot in the PDM Huws Gray WOSFL Premier Division with 19 points from 25 games. Before this weekend's round of league matches, they're seven points from safety and have played more games than other teams in the relegation battle, so they're facing a tough task to remain in the WOSFL's top division. These two Cup weekends will serve as a welcome distraction from their league troubles. Their only victory in their last 11 matches came on 24 February, when they beat title candidates St Cadocs 3-0. In that run of 11 matches since their quarter final win Bellshill Athletic, they've lost four and drawn six. However, as last week proved, form goes out the window in cup matches, and we'll be expecting a tough test from Saturday's visitors.

How We Got To The Semi Finals:
Our five previous matches in this competition have all been at home against sixth tier teams, from two different regions. Rounds 1 & 2 saw 3-0 home victories over Dundee East Craigie and Dundee North End. Then in Round 3, we beat West Of Scotland Premier Division Side Irvine Meadow 3-1 at Keanie Park. Round 4 was eventually played on the fourth attempt, after being postponed three times due to the weather. Due to the number of postponements and the need to get this match played, we moved the game to New Western Park in Renfrew where we beat Dundee Downfield 4-3 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw.  The quarter final saw an epic battle against St Cadocs, as we came from 2-0 to lead 3-2, only to concede a late equaliser. The game finished 3-3, and went to a penalty shootout, which we won 4-1. Then, we drew 2-2 last week in the first leg of the semi final against Arthurlie.

How They Got To The Semi Finals:
R1: Kilsyth Rangers 0-4 Arthurlie
R2: Forfar United 1-6 Arthurlie
R3: Rutherglen Glencairn 3-3 Arthurlie (3-4 pens)
R4: Benburb 2-3 Arthurlie
QF: Bellshill Athletic 1-2 Arthurlie
SF 1L: Arthurlie 2-2 Johnstone Burgh

Previous Meeting:
Arthurlie 2-2 Johnstone Burgh. The first leg at Dunterlie Park on Sunday was a great advert for Junior football, despite both teams having to adapt to tough conditions. Burgh went a goal behind early on through Arthurlie captain Mark Docherty, as we struggled to get into the game. Kyle Lafferty converted from the spot before half time after Burgh captain Malky McDonald was brought down. A terrific strike from Connor Bradley put The Lie ahead in the second half before Dale Simeon's equaliser in the 77th minute.

Getting Here:
By Train: The nearest train station is Johnstone, which is served by trains from Glasgow Central and is approximately 10 minutes walk to Keanie Park.
By Car: We have a car park next to the stadium, as well as plenty of street parking nearby. Post Code is PA5 9PE. If parking on the street, please be mindful of local residents and take care not to obstruct any driveways or access to properties.

Officials:
The referee on Saturday is Gary Hanvidge. He will be assisted by Scott Bunting and Cameron Telfer, with Michael McCart on fourth official duty. Of the four officials, only Scott Bunting has officiated in a Burgh game this season, when he referee for our 2-0 victory over Neilston in September. Gary Hanvidge was the referee for Arthurlie's 2-1 home defeat to Glenafton Athletic in August. The two assistant referees haven't been selected for an Arthurlie game this season, but this weekend's clash will be the second Arthurlie game of the season for Michael McCart, having refereed their penalty shoot out win (4-3) after a 3-3 draw against Rutherglen in the third round of this competition.

Admission:
Admission for this week’s tie is set by the SJFA at £10 adults, £5 concessions (over 65’s & children aged 12-16) with under 12s admitted free of charge, when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available to purchase from Keanie Park between 12:00-16:00 all week. If fans are unable to purchase tickets in advance, they will be able to pay on the gate.
