Burgh fell to our first defeat of the season as Clydebank extended their 100% record. The weather this week had been a concern for Johnstone Burgh, but following a morning pitch inspection, the pitch was deemed playable.
The first was a cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create anything too clear cut. Burgh keeper Luke Scullion was, however, the busier of the two keepers in the first half but he, and the Burgh defence stood firm. Just as it looked like the sides would go in at half time with the deadlock unbroken, the visitors took the lead when Scullion parried away a Lee Gallagher shot, only for Nicky Little to knock it into the net in the first minute of added time.
Half Time: 0-1
Conceding on the stroke of half time seemed to have rocked The Burgh as we struggled to get a foothold in the game after this, and we paid the price conceding two quick-fire goals from set pieces.
First, Nicky Little got his second of the game as he headed in from a corner on 62 minutes. Then, five minutes later it was 0-3 when Burgh failed to clear another corner and Dean Cairns curled a fine strike from just inside the box into the top corner.
Burgh pulled one back with 10 minutes to play when a corner was headed back to where it came from and Fraser Mullen whipped in a cross to find Danny O'Neill, who headed in to score his fourth goal of the season, but it would prove to be only a consolation as the league leaders saw out the match.
Full Time: 1-3
Goal: O'Neill (80)
Starting XI: Scullion, Mullen, Gilday, Naismith, O'Neill, Esplin (C), Christie, McDonald, Moore, Rossiter, Mason
Man Of The Match: Danny O'Neill
