Clydebank 0-0 Johnstone Burgh

Clydebank 0-0 Johnstone Burgh

Today, we extended our unbeaten run to nine league matches at unbeaten league leaders Clydebank.

It was a competitive and hotly-contested affair at Holm Park this afternoon, in a game that saw more yellow cards than chances.

In front of an estimated 900 fans, a good number of whom were supporting the away side, the first half was mostly a midfield battle, with chances few and far between. The best chance of the half came for the hosts around the midway point. A cross from the right was then played back to Little, who could only stab at the ball and Luke Scullion made a routine save.

As has been the case with The Burgh in recent games, we got better as the game went on. And, whilst the first half was fairly even, we were certainly the better side in the second half.

In just the third minute of the second half, Malky McDonald received the ball from a throw in, and turned two defenders before firing a left-footed strike and forcing Leishman into his first save of the match. About a minute later Aaron Mason's low effort from 25 yards was saved Leishaman.

Next was Allan MacKenzie's turn to try to break the deadlock, as he was played through by Ross Davidson but MacKenzie couldn't find the target.

Burgh were throwing everything at the home side as they sought a winner. The best chance of the match came in the sixth minute of added time when a Burgh Trialist had done excellently to win the ball from a home defender, as he tried to shepherd it out of play after a long clearance from Scullion. Having won the ball, the Trialist headed towards goal and, one on one with Leishman, looked to bend it around the keeper but Leishman made a fantastic save with his foot to ensure the match ended goalless.

The Bankies will the happier of the two sides to take a point, with Burgh feeling we should have won. It won't be back-to-back draws for us, as next week's match must be decided on the day.
